#1447 25th April 2010….GPS

A small group of dedicated Hills Hashers gathered this week at Fishmarket Reserve in Guildford for the Anzac run, but with most of the Mismanagement team absent it was left to our Aussie/Kiwi Hare GPS to toot the Reveille. Stand in acting GM Made Muffin welcomed back Pot Stirrer and Bung. Before sending off the group GPS gave a list of “I’m lame” excuses to justify why he couldn’t run which turned out to be good for the walkers. With a wave of the hand and instructions the “ON ONs” are out the gate and by the river , runners and walkers scrambled to get best position.

Sheep Shunter and Light My Fire raced off only to be informed they were running the walkers’ trail. The runners headed east in a wide sweep to Guildford Grammar on a fairly flat course for GPS. Nameless was later called for extending the run by going in the wrong direction at times.

The walkers headed across the Guildford Bridge and along the river towards Success Hill before returning along Guildford Road, dodging trains whilst crossing the track to get back to the ON HOME. The lack of markings was noted on the trail. GPS further confused some of the group by walking ahead and calling them for not looking down for the arrows of chalk or flour or whatever else he had left.

By sheer good luck or careful planning, the groups arrived back together after 45 minutes. With the Monk missing the circle was short and both walkers and runners gave the Hare an 8 out of 10 for his not too challenging trails.

Steaming hot soup and Anzac biscuits quelled the hunger as the cool evening air set in.
